UPDATED 12.19.2011 by Julie Montanaro

Two FSU football players are arrested in a span of three days. Both are accused of felonies and both have been suspended from the team.

Florida State football players filed onto the practice field Monday to prepare for the upcoming Champs Sports Bowl.

Two players on the roster are not bowl bound.

Red shirt frehsman Arrington Jenkins was arrested Sunday and accused of stealing a motorcyle out of the bed of a pick parked on Chapel Drive.

Dawn Roberts was there when the bike’s owner discovered it was missing.

"He was like I got robbed, I got robbed and we’re like, no what happened? and he told us, my roomate’s dad, my motorcycle got stolen," Roberts said.

Tallahassee Police reports indicate the now damaged dirt bike was found in Jenkins apartment . Owner Josh Luggi tells us police found it in Jenkins’ bathroom after he noticed a skid mark that led right to Jenkins’ door.

Arrest reports say when questioned by police Jenkins said anyone who leaves a motorcycle out in the open should expect to have it stolen.

Luggi says his bike was strapped down in the back of his pick up truck. He says he went to a graduation party that night and tied his bike down in the back because he had a race the next morning. He estimates damage to his bike at about 00.

"It’s stupidity, Why are you going to risk a full scholarship to steal a bike?" Luggi said.

This comes just days after FSU cornerback Avis Commack was arrested and accused of stealing a 600 dollar i-pad. The i-pad disappeared from a computer lab in Moore Athletic Center.

FSU police say Commack logged on with his own user name three days later from the lounge outside the football locker room.

"It looked like all the data in the computer, in the i-pad had been wiped. Any pictures, any docuemts, any bookmarks and that sort of stuff had been removed from the computer," said FSU Police Spokesman Jim Russell.

Commack told police he found the i-pad in a stairwell and admitted to throwing away its flowery cover in the dumpster out back. All are indications, police said, that Commack intention of returning it.

"If basically, the facts build up to say this person was intending to keep it for themselves, finders keepers, then it can become a crime," Russell said.

"They’re here on a football scholarship. Why would you even do that? We’re supporting you, why can’t you give us the respect we give to you?" Dawn Roberts asked.

Associate Athletic Director Rob Wilson says both Jenkins and Commack have been suspended from the team and will not be practicing or going to the bowl game.

Yep, it’s disgusting. I used to be a big sports fan but not anymore. Our society worships these guys and pays them obscene salaries at the pro level, while our child care workers get minimum wage. Very sad.

…..item 2)…. Orlando Sentinel Newspaper … Jimbo Fisher confirms suspensions of arrested FSU players

Two Seminoles arrested in three days are suspended, at least one to miss bowl

December 19, 2011|By Coley Harvey, Orlando Sentinel

articles.orlandosentinel.com/2011-12-19/sports/os-jimbo-f…

TALLAHASSEE — For the foreseeable future, Florida State will be without the services of two backup players, coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed Monday afternoon.

Speaking for the first time since the Sunday afternoon arrest of freshman linebacker Arrington Jenkins, Fisher said that per university guidelines, he has suspended Jenkins and cornerback Avis Commack for their arrests and charges of felony theft.

"Both of them as of right now are suspended off the team, and I’ll comment when everything runs it’s course," Fisher said. "(But) they won’t be with us in any way, shape."

Jenkins was arrested around 5 p.m. Sunday, just after the Seminoles’ early-afternoon practice session in advance of the Dec. 29 Champs Sports Bowl. The Miami native who is redshirting this season, was charged with vehicular theft. Officers traced skid marks from a neighbor’s driveway to Jenkins’ residence.

According to the probable cause report filed on the incident, while being questioned about the motorcycle, Jenkins told officers: "anyone who leaves a motorcycle out in the open should expect to have it stolen."

The motorcycle was sitting in the back of a truck that was parked on the same street on which Jenkins lives, the report said.

On Friday, Commack was arrested for allegedly stealing an iPad from a fellow student.

Two weeks ago, FSU police were notified by a female student that her iPad and garnet-colored Nike backpack had gone missing. In cooperation with FSU’s communications technology department, campus police were able to determine that the computer had been used multiple times in the following days. The communications technology department saw where someone was trying to log onto the campus’ wireless outlet using the same student ID that matched Commack.

When questioned, Commack — a redshirt junior who graduated Friday — told investigators that he had found the iPad in a stairwell.

"We’ll deal with it as we see the facts in each case come out. But it’s a shame," Fisher said. "It’s very disappointing."

Both players were arrested and were released the same day they were processed. Commack is out on pre-trial conditions, and Jenkins posted ,000 bail.

Per university athletics rules, athletes arrested for or charged with felonies cannot represent the university. Nor can they be around their team. Commack hasn’t practiced all weekend, and Jenkins was absent Monday. Jenkins practiced Sunday, about three hours before his arrest.

Commack’s attorney, Tim Jansen, told the Orlando Sentinel on Monday that his client has entered a not guilty plea and that his case likely won’t be processed until the first of the new year.

Jansen confirmed Commack had been suspended and would miss the bowl game because there will be no resolution to his matter until after the game.

The Tallahassee attorney has represented many past FSU athletes who have gotten in criminal trouble. He was unsure if Jenkins’ family would reach out to him. As of Monday afternoon, had not heard if they would.

Fisher credited the time of year, particularly in Jenkins’ case, with being a factor in the arrests.

"Generally, with your team, as you get close to Christmas and the end of a semester and summers (trouble happens)," Fisher said. "That’s always time when guys get free time and they get antsy and they get going. That’s when a lot of times your issues come up a lot of times. But it should never come up.

"That’s still no excuse for anyone."

Fisher said this is a time when team rules need to be reemphasized.
